Ola Electric, which is getting ready for its IPO, has just made a big announcement! They’ve dropped the prices of three of their S1 scooter models by as much as Rs 25,000. But this price cut is only for February.
Why did they do it?
Well, they say it’s because they’ve figured out smarter ways to make their scooters, using their own technology and factories. And because they’re eligible for some government incentives for making electric vehicles, they can afford to give customers a better and cheaper deal.
They’re pretty confident about their scooters too. Ola Electric claims that their S1 scooters are better than the regular petrol ones. They say you can save up to Rs 30,000 every year by choosing their electric scooters instead.
Here are the new prices:
The S1 X+ model will cost Rs 84,999 now, after a big Rs 25,000 price cut. The S1 Pro is down to Rs 1,29,999 from Rs 1,47,499, and the S1 Air is now Rs 1,04,999 instead of Rs 1,19,999.
But Ola Electric isn’t the only one dropping prices. A rival company called Ather Energy reduced the price of their 450S model by Rs 20,000 in January. Another player in the market, Okaya EV, has slashed prices too, with discounts of up to Rs 18,000 on their electric scooters until the end of February. Now their scooters start at Rs 74,899.
Even last year, Bajaj had cut the prices of their electric scooter, Chetak. They dropped the price of the base model by Rs 22,000 to Rs 1.3 lakh.
But it’s not just scooters getting cheaper. Tata Motors has also reduced the prices of their Tiago.ev and Nexon.ev cars, following MG Motor’s price cut on their Comet electric hatchback.
Ola Electric is really pushing forward. They’ve become the first Indian two-wheeler company to get a special certificate from the government, which means they can get some subsidies.
And they’re not just stopping at scooters. They’re expanding their range with new products like the S1 X (4kWh), catering to different needs for the range.
And the cool part is that Ola Electric is now offering an extended warranty of 8 years or 80,000 km on their batteries for free, for all their products. That’s a great deal!
