Apple’s iPhone 16: Revolutionizing Display Design with Border Reduction Structure

  • Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are generating buzz with reports of a larger display size.
  • A groundbreaking “Border Reduction Structure” (BRS) technology is expected to minimize bezels for a sleeker design.
  • Suppliers face challenges meeting production standards, but solutions are in the works to overcome potential overheating issues.

The excitement around Apple’s upcoming iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max is reaching a fever pitch, with reports hinting at a major upgrade in screen size.

Recent news from The Elec (via 9To5Mac) suggests that Apple is gearing up to introduce a game-changing technology called “Border Reduction Structure” (BRS) to achieve this.

This fancy BRS tech is all about shrinking the borders on the iPhone 16 Pro models, bringing in a new era of sleek design.

By using a clever system hidden under the display, Apple plans to make the borders much thinner, promising a whole new visual experience for users.

But getting to this cool design isn’t easy. Suppliers like LG Display and Samsung Display are facing some challenges in meeting Apple’s strict production standards.

The tricky part is making the BRS technology work, which involves squeezing circuits under the border and setting up delicate wiring.

According to the report, no company has quite hit the production targets set by Apple. Despite the hurdles, Samsung Display is expected to provide all four OLED screens for the iPhone 16 Series, while LG Display aims to chip in with OLEDs for the Pro and Pro Max versions. And BOE is set to supply OLEDs for the lower-tier models.

There are worries about potential overheating due to the wiring involved in BRS technology. But it seems like Apple and its suppliers have found solutions using smart heat control methods.

While we don’t know all the details about how much the borders will shrink, it’s widely believed that the iPhone 16 Pro models will have bigger screens without making the whole device bigger. This comes after the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, which already had smaller borders, as shown in earlier leaks.

Expectations are high for the iPhone 16 Pro, rumored to have a 6.3-inch display (up from 6.1 inches), and the iPhone 16 Pro Max, rumored to boast a 6.9-inch display (up from 6.7 inches). Tech enthusiasts can’t wait for Apple’s next big release.
