Located in Palmdale, a city north of Los Angeles, Bale initiated the construction of twelve homes and a community center. His aim? To create a haven for foster siblings, ensuring they can stay together despite the challenges they face.
Bale’s passion for this cause ignited around 2008, during the time he portrayed the caped crusader in “The Dark Knight.” It was then that he became aware of the staggering number of foster children in Los Angeles County and the heartbreaking reality of siblings being separated within the system. With a heart full of empathy, Bale envisioned a place where these siblings could find solace and support, a place they could call home.
Initially, Bale’s vision seemed straightforward – acquire land, bring in the kids, and create a harmonious environment reminiscent of the Von Trapp family from “The Sound of Music.” However, as he delved deeper into the complexities of the foster care system, he realized the enormity of the task at hand.

In his quest to turn his dream into reality, Bale enlisted the help of Tim McCormick, an individual experienced in setting up similar programs. Together, they founded Together California, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a loving and stable environment for foster siblings.
Despite facing numerous challenges, including the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Bale remained unwavering in his commitment to the cause.
With the support of LA County Supervisor Kathryn Barger and the community of Palmdale, Bale’s dream is now taking shape. Palmdale, with its semi-rural charm and population of approximately 165,000 people, emerged as the perfect location for this groundbreaking initiative.
