One win down, two more to go for Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes. With a standout performance from two-way star Travis Hunter, Colorado moved closer to the Big 12 Championship Game by defeating Utah at home, 49-24, on Saturday.
Travis Hunter, excelling as a cornerback-receiver, showcased his versatility by playing every snap before exiting late in the fourth quarter after scoring on a 5-yard rushing touchdown. On offense, Hunter recorded five catches for 55 yards. On defense, he made three tackles, intercepted a pass, and redeemed himself after giving up his first touchdown of the season in the third quarter.
“Travis is the epitome,” coach Deion Sanders told Fox Sports after the game.
With this victory, the Buffaloes (8-2) now have two games left in their regular season. Winning both would secure their spot in the Big 12 Championship Game in Arlington, Texas, on Dec. 7. A win there could earn them a berth in the new 12-team College Football Playoff, potentially with a first-round bye as one of the top four conference champions.
On Saturday, Colorado looked dominant against Utah, leading 21-9 at halftime. Despite occasional setbacks, including two lost fumbles and an interception on the game’s opening play by Shedeur Sanders, they controlled the game throughout.
As the postseason nears, Colorado’s playoff dreams remain alive, driven by their talented roster and Deion Sanders’ leadership.
