In a recent twist to the Bilkis Bano case, the Supreme Court slammed the brakes on the Gujarat government’s plan to release 11 convicts involved in the horrific rape and murder during the 2002 Gujarat riots. Notably, Kangana Ranaut, our favorite no-filter Bollywood star, expressed her eagerness to make a film on Bilkis Bano after a user suggested the idea on Twitter.
The fiery actor, also trying her hand at being a filmmaker, spilled the beans that she’s been brewing this movie idea for three years. But hold your popcorn, folks, because the plot thickens! Kangana revealed that despite having the script ready and doing her homework, top studios and streaming giants like Netflix and Prime Video turned her down faster than a cat dodging a bath. Why, you ask? Apparently, they have a strict ‘no-political-drama’ policy.
Adding spice to the Bollywood curry, Kangana disclosed that JioCinema gave her the cold shoulder because of her political affiliations, claiming she’s a BJP supporter. And as if that wasn’t enough drama, Zee, currently tangled in a merger, put a ‘do not disturb’ sign on Kangana’s film dreams.
In response to a tweet asking if she’d make the film for the sake of women empowerment or just basic humanity, Kangana unleashed her frustration. Picture her typing away, “I’m all in for women power, but Netflix and gang won’t budge. JioCinema thinks I’m a BJP cheerleader, and Zee is having a corporate makeover. What are my options, seriously?”
And as if that wasn’t enough, Kangana took a jab at the audience, blaming them for not embracing her film Tejas, now chilling on OTT platforms. She claimed that the audience seems to prefer movies where women are treated like they’re auditioning for ‘America’s Next Top Shoe Licker.’ Ouch!
In the end, she hinted at possibly ditching the whole glam scene for something more worthwhile. Career shift alert! What’s next for Kangana? Your guess is as good as mine. Stay tuned for the next episode of “Kangana’s Rollercoaster Chronicles”!
