In a recent chat with the ICC, Aussie skipper Pat Cummins couldn’t help but shower praise on Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja, labeling them as the superheroes of consistency in cricket. According to Cummins, these two maestros have a knack for pulling their team out of tight spots and clinching victories even from the jaws of defeat.
“Kohli and Jadeja are like the reliable engines of a cricketing machine; they always manage to rescue their team from perilous situations and emerge victorious. It’s been an absolute privilege to share the field with them,” remarked Cummins.
Bagging the prestigious ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year award for 2023, Cummins described the past year as a rollercoaster ride filled with team triumphs. He humbly accepted the individual accolade, acknowledging the significance amidst the backdrop of collective victories.
“Winning this award is massive. 2023 was like a dream come true with all the team successes we’ve had. To top it off with this individual recognition is truly remarkable,” shared the elated skipper.
Adding to Cummins’ accolades, the year 2023 saw him steering Australia to victory in the ICC World Test Championship, retaining the Ashes, and clinching a record-breaking sixth World Cup title, painting a picture-perfect fairytale for the cricketing powerhouse.
However, amidst the jubilation, Team India faces some setbacks. Star batsman Kohli has opted out of the first two Tests against England due to personal reasons, while the ever-reliable Jadeja has been sidelined from the second Test after nursing a hamstring injury sustained during the first encounter against the English side.
