Sri Lanka’s star spinner, Wanindu Hasaranga, achieved a remarkable milestone in his cricket career recently. He became only the second Sri Lankan player ever to reach 100 wickets in T20 International matches, joining the likes of the legendary Lasith Malinga in this elite club.
Hasaranga, who currently leads the Sri Lankan T20I team, accomplished this feat during the second T20I match against Afghanistan in Dambulla. Since debuting in 2019, Hasaranga has emerged as one of the top wicket-takers in men’s T20Is.
Impressively, he reached the 100-wicket mark in just 63 matches, making him the second-fastest bowler to achieve this milestone in T20I history. The only player to have achieved it quickly is Rashid Khan from Afghanistan, who did so in 53 matches back in 2021.

Prior to Hasaranga, Lasith Malinga was the lone Sri Lankan bowler to have crossed the 100-wicket mark in T20Is. Malinga achieved this milestone in his 76th T20I match, making Hasaranga’s achievement even more impressive.
