On 25 February, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Sudarshan Setu, a special bridge connecting Okha and Beyt in Dwarka. It’s a remarkable bridge, the longest of its kind in India, stretching over 2.32 kilometers. The inauguration was attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
This bridge is quite unique. It has verses from the Bhagavad Gita and images of Lord Krishna along its footpath. Plus, it’s got solar panels on top, generating electricity. And guess what? It costs around ₹978 crore to build!
Well, it makes life easier for people living around here and for pilgrims going to the Dwarkadhish Temple. Before this bridge, folks had to rely on boats to get to the temple.
Beyt Dwarka, where this bridge ends, is an island near Okha port, about 30 km from Dwarka town. And the Dwarkadhish Temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna, is a big deal for pilgrims.
Before, this bridge was called the Signature Bridge, but now it’s known as Sudarshan Setu, named after Lord Krishna’s weapon, Sudarshan Chakra.
Dharam Thakar, a priest at Beyt Dwarka Temple, said it’s more than just a bridge; it’s a blessing. Jignesh Joshi, another priest, also thanked PM Modi for the bridge, saying it’s like a gift from God.
PM Modi himself is excited about this project. He thinks it’s a big step for Gujarat’s progress. The bridge will make life easier for everyone, including tourists. Instead of taking a long boat ride, they can now just walk across the bridge, cutting down their travel time by three hours!
