Yashasvi Jaiswal Overcomes Back Spasm, Returns to Bat in India vs. England Test

  • Yashasvi Jaiswal fights back pain and resumes batting in the India vs. England Test.
  • Shubman Gill falls short of a century, and Jaiswal shines with an impressive hundred.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, the young opener, came back strong despite his back pain and resumed batting on Day 4 of the 3rd Test between India and England at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. He had to leave the field on Day 3 due to his back issue right after scoring a fantastic hundred.

When the game resumed on Sunday morning, India’s score was 196 for 2, with Shubman Gill and Kuldeep Yadav at the crease. They managed to add 55 runs together before Shubman Gill got run out for 91 in the 64th over. It was a disappointing moment for him as he missed his century by a whisker due to a mix-up with Kuldeep Yadav.

As Shubman Gill walked back disappointed, the crowd welcomed Yashasvi Jaiswal back to the field with applause. Jaiswal looked comfortable and was playing his shots confidently, especially against the England spinners.

On the previous day, Jaiswal played a brilliant innings, scoring his 3rd Test hundred. He started slowly, supporting Rohit Sharma initially. But after Sharma got out, Jaiswal accelerated the scoring, hitting boundaries at will. He scored his next 65 runs off just 49 balls, showcasing his ability to handle pressure and dominate the opposition.

However, after reaching his century, Jaiswal experienced back spasms and had to retire hurt. Despite attempts to continue playing, the pain was too much for him to bear, and he had to leave the field with 104 runs to his name.

There was some good news for India on Sunday as R Ashwin returned from Chennai to rejoin the team. He had left earlier due to a family emergency but was now available to play on Day 4 and Day 5 of the Test match.
